Introduction to Linocut Printmaking

  • Kristina Gibb Photography New Hope, PA (map)

Join us for a hands-on exploration of printmaking! In this engaging three-part class, you'll learn the fundamentals of linocut printmaking, a popular technique known for its bold and expressive results. Led by experienced art educator Ms. Gabby Miller, this class will guide you through every step of the process—from creating your design to producing your final prints.

While there are many printmaking methods, this session will focus on linocut, allowing you to draw a design of your choice and transfer it to a linoleum block.

In this class:

  • We will learn about the history of linocuts, sketch a design and learn and how to transfer your sketch to the linoleum.

  • Get more comfortable with the cutting tools by playing around with different mark-making techniques. Then carve a linoleum printing block with your chosen design.

  • By the end of class you will apply ink to your block and print multiples of your image on paper! Experiment with black or color inks.

All supplies will be provided for this course.
